We were all so looking forward to my good friend Barry Manilow making an appearance on The View to pedal his new album. But the legendary entertainer decided to back out because he didn’t want to be near Elisabeth Hasselbeck whom he labeled a “dangerous and offensive” woman.
I must confess that this wasn’t the first time a guest declined to come on the show because of our perky Elisabeth. A few other celebrities (who shall not remain nameless) find Elisabeth vile, venomous, vain, vicious, and even some words that don’t begin with the letter “v.”
The following stars also refused to sit on the same stage with Elisabeth: Sandra Bullock, Shia LaBeouf, Cormac McCarthy, Bono, Dame Judi Dench, Bobby Brown, Andy Dick, Gael Garcia Bernal, Hilary Swank, Congressman Barney Frank, Dolce or Gabbana, Diane Keaton, Dyan Cannon, Brandy, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Joyce Carol Oates, Haley Joel Osmont, the creator of Preparation H, Judith Regan, Milla Jovovich, Will.i.am (whoever the hell that is), Marc Jacobs, Maya Angelou, Keira Knightley, Ben Kingsley, Queen Latifah, Prince, Joan Didion, Andy Samberg, Salmon Rushdie, Josh Hartnett, Kate Hudson, Cate Blanchett, Kate Spade, Kate Beckinsale, Wanda Sykes, the entire cast of “Weeds,” and the list goes on. It’s longer than Schindler’s.
But all is not lost. Despite Elisabeth’s blatant stupidity and altogether irritating presence, we have managed to book many illustrious guests on The View including Dr. Phil, Lisa Rinna, and Tori Spelling. Please take time to watch The View.

Susan McGee:
So, Maniow and the others on the list (if that list really is accurate), won't share a stage with someone whose political views differ from theirs? Does that go for differing religious views, racial differences, sexual preferences, etc? Sure makes me want to run out and become a Democrat!
9/21/2007 12:08 AMYep, little Elizabeth is so obviousy dangerous and offensive...just like my toy poodle!
LOLKatie:
Babs, I am sure you meant to say that Barry wanted to peddle his CD, not pedal. Unless of course his CD has two feet (no doubt aiming at the ceiling).

First of all, I have been a Barry Manilow fan for many years, and I have also been a supporter of The View. I don't know if this list of celebrities who don't want to share the stage with Elisabeth is accurate. However, it seems to me that if "The View" loses a high profile interview with someone like Barry Manilow they also lose in the ratings. That being the case, se if this list is accurate, little Elisabeth could be on her way to becoming a liability to the show.

I believe everyone has the right to their opinion but they dont have to shove it in people's faces all the time and I believe that Barry Manilow and others have the right to have their rights allowed also. I think the View should have just accomataded him and let it go.
