I made a promise to American shareholders yesterday that my blog would be live today. The blog, which will shine a light on bad corporate governance and greedy executives, only just went live this afternoon. Here's the real story why it took so long, straight from the corporate raider's mouth without any media spin:
On Monday, Jerry Yang called me and said "I think we should learn to work together. As an olive branch, I'd like to install your blog for you."
After screaming a few obscenities at him and hearing him start to whimper, I told him I'm sick of paying my law firm $750 an hour to install my blog and that I'd take him up on his offer. Big mistake.
Jerry called me back that night proposing to do another partnership with Google by setting my blog up on Blogger. I told him to stop doing deals with Google. Hasn't he learned his lesson after letting Google power Yahoo's search in 2004? Apparently not. Jerry pleaded with me, saying it'd say "Yahoo! Blogs powered by Google." I told him to forget it.
The next day Jerry texted me that he's going to launch "Flickr for text" to power my blog. It only took three years to get Flickr for video, but he said this time it'd be different. Apparently the idea fell through. I heard that's why the Flickr founders quit.
On Wednesday Jerry dropped by my office, saying he was going to code my blog just like he coded Yahoo! in 1994: "By HTML in MS Notepad." He said the only downside would be I'd have to e-mail him every post, and it'd take him at least two hours to get it on the web. I said fine. The less time Jerry has to attempt to manage Yahoo!, the better it is for shareholder value.
I haven't heard a word from him since, and TheIcahnReport.com is only now working at 1:30 pm today. Even Dick Parsons came through on his offer to buy me a cigar after the Time Warner proxy fight. Finding a graceful end to this isn't going to be easy.

Al Sharpton:
Mr. Icahn,
How old are you now? 64,65? You have enough money to do just about any man on earth would dream to. Don't you think it's time to retire and enjoy life, probably some charity, instead of being a greedy immoral bastard?
Dearest Regards,
