Ron Paul: an enema for America

By Ralph Nader

Bio & Blog

He won’t admit it, but Ron Paul is practically running on my third-party ticket. And while I don’t agree with him on every point. I was impressed that he raised four million dollars in one day. Unless my campaign starts showing some signs of life, I might just vote for him next November.

Sure, I don’t particularly agree with his immigration policy of state-run militia’s running around on the southern border, shooting at anything that speaks Spanish. Nor do I sleep well at night thinking about his proposed dissolution of my precious EPA and Consumer Product Safety Commission. However, I think we can all agree that Washington is like the inflamed colon after 20 years without even a flake of Raisin Bran. What it needs is a Ron Paul enema — let’s let it run through the system, clean everything out — You wouldn’t get an enema every day — but we need one right now.

Ike:

Unfortunately it took segregationist Governor Wallace to reveal the truth that "there's not a dime's worth of difference between" Republicans and Democrats. The Democrats willingly went along with the War in Iraq, suspension of Habeas Corpus, detaining protesters, banning books like "America Deceived' from Amazon, stealing private lands (Kelo decision), warrant-less wiretapping and refusing to investigate 9/11 properly. They are both guilty of treason.
Support Dr. Ron Paul and save this great nation.

I,m retired USN and So Bell Tel Co. I have never seen fit to donate a dime to any of these politicians until now that our savior has appeared by the name of Dr Ron Paul. The fact that the press has tried to ignore him is a good sign that he is the man for me.
Hope its not to late for the USA. Russ

Joseph Hodapp:

I am thrilled to hear such educated, informed support of Ron Paul. I can not believe the nerve of our "fair and un-bias" news media that try so hard to keep Ron Paul out of the spotlights, but I am thrilled that Americans are finally seeing that it is in fact time to put someone in Washington to "Clean out the closets" .

Hey Ralph Nader. Some of us that support Ron Paul don't believe in every policy he has either. Most of us want a return to our liberties, and fiscal responsibility. Thats it. No double talk. Honest truth. If we were to have a flag for the Ron Paul movement, it would be the American flag as it represents us and we represent it.

Good Luck to you in '08

Friends, please remember that this is a blog, not a press release or a resolution. I think what Mr. Nader meant to address the unpalatable truth that the libertarians stance on gun control and militia has always put them on shaky ground with regard to immigration. A libertarian politician will endure great pressure from some constituents to implement a "tough" border policy that could end up being dangerous (and would probably be scrutinized only after some tragic and embarrassing incident). I applaud Mr. Nader for having the foresight and vision to identify these strange bedfellows frankly. I think the overall point is that Greens and Libertarians of all stripes (themselves very strange bedfellows indeed) have more common ground than they probably ever recognized, and differences that will take work but are ultimately reconcilable given the current state of affairs.
