Ringo Starr’s Blog

John has it good

By Ringo Starr

Bio & Blog

This is my line in the sand; no more autographs. Frankly, I'm sick of you.

I'm 68 now. Would you like people bringing up what you did right out of high school? Embarrassing, isn't it? You think I even remember what you're talking about? I once knew a guy named George. The rest is a blur. And I want to keep it that way.

Being magnanimous is a full time job. And it doesn't pay. Smiling and nodding at the thousands of you that want to sing "Octopus Garden" has given me whiplash. I don't care about the first time you heard "Wild Honey Pie". I don't care that you saw me at Shea Stadium. What did you pay, 50 cents? That paid for a hamburger I didn't finish. Because you asked for a picture as soon as I sat down.

Fame has brought me nothing but problems. Wine cooler ads. Caveman. Barbara Bach. I don't need the aggravation. Do you know how many times I had to turn down Dancing With the Stars? They're like Jehovah's Witnesses.

I'm not even a very good drummer. You don't have to be Buddy Rich to play "Love Me Do". The other guys wrote all the songs. Why don't you bother them? Oh, you do. Then you can leave me out of it.

I'm warning you with peace and love if you don't leave me alone I will shatter your clavicle. Oh, and I have a new album out. Don't buy it. We need to break this cycle.

Dick Cheney:

I'm with you. I don't give autographs anymore either. I don't have the blood to spare.

Dick Cheney:

That, and people took exception when I attempted to use theirs.

Katherine:

Do you remember Maggie? She lived with Linda & Paul. How dare you say something that is anti J.W.

I totally understand Ringo's bringing the autograph thing to a halt. He's only been signing things for 42 years now. I would think that enough is enough and totally sympathize with him. I cannot believe that he's still into the peace love stuff of the 60's though. All that free thinking has had some very heavy consequences. Best of luck to Ringo in his future busyness. Success and satisfaction.

Christopher Walken:

I just want it to be known that I will honor all requests for autographs. In particular, I will sign body parts. Just send them to me in a cooler full of ice.
