A millionaire woman in New York named Varsha Sabhnani is going to prison for keeping two Indonesian housekeepers as slaves. Wait a second, I thought America was the land of freedom. So why can’t a powerful American woman be free to enslave two women if that is her choice?
What’s next America? Are you going to say a person can’t lock scientists in a room until they have invented a time travel device? Will you outlaw a man’s right to dabble with radiation experiments on animals to create vicious animal hybrids? Will the USA start demanding that a person disband his army of babies that he is training to become assassins? If so, then I guess I would be “breaking the law” in the U.S.
The Indonesian servants claim that this New York woman beat them with brooms and umbrellas. I know I tell my servants that they should have a positive attitude. Even when I'm throwing them against walls. If they think positive, life seems bearable. I think these Indonesian women should have done the same. Perhaps try humor. When hit with an umbrella toss out a barb: "Hey madam, I'm a bad servant not bad weather?" Or when she forced you to take a freezing shower as punishment maybe make your teeth chatter (overact) make whooping noises like Curly from the Three Stooges.
I'm sure if the servants in the world took the humorous approach instead of playing the victim all the time, their masters would beat them less. That is of course, as long as they also do everything that is demanded of them perfectly from there on. In conclusion, America, you need to put your money where your mouth is. Freedom isn't free. It must be paid for by Indonesian slave servants.
